Remembered Today:

Rifleman Thomas James Coleman (393915)

Could anyone help with with one of my relatives, Rifleman Thomas James Coleman (393915)

I know the day he was killed (11 April 1917) but have no idea about location and possible circumstances. If anyone could shed some light on what he might have been doing on the day he was killed regarding location and battle I would be eternally grateful.

Many Thanks

Hi Andrew,

The 1/9th London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles) have their war diaries accessible on-line at the PRO. Ref.WO 95/2963. If you are near Kew you can examine the documents there but they are also downloadable for a fee. You should be able to see what the battalion was doing and where they were.

Hope this helps.

A look at Chelmsford newspapers around this time may well give some specific details as many war diaries dont mention much about the ORs
