Remembered Today:

Port Sunlight

I went to visit my Sister up in Chester yesterday, and she took me to Port Sunlight, the village created by Lever for workers in his soap factory.

She used to work for the company until she had her baby earlier this year.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that if anyone finds themselves near by Port Sunlight, to drive in to the village and stop and look at the really impressive war memorial.

It is a beautiful and very fitting memorial to all the workers of Lever who died in both wars.

Fleur,

I agree with you it is a lovely memorial and in a beautiful setting.

The lady Lever art gallery in the village is also worth a visit. It contains many beautiful items particularly textiles and embroideries and best of all it's free.

Thanks very much for the extra info guys.

My sister said that the Lady Lever Gallery is excellent - she used to walk over there in her lunch break - unfortunatly we didn't have time to stop there on Sunday (plus we had a grumpy sprog with us too!)

Martin, didn't know about the book. I read on the memorial that a book or rememberance was buried under the site - nice touch.
