Martin Perry Posted 12 August , 2006 Share Posted 12 August , 2006 Still trying to pin down a date for when my grandfather might have gone to France, and I'm wondering if anyone could help put a date on this 5 digit number please? I've been told that it was not a TF number and that it is a new army number: It belonged to Leonard Claude Jackson Bryan. He received the TFWM and not 1914 or 1914/15 stars so places him into 1916 but I'd like to get a more definitive date if possible. Due to the complex criteria for the TFWM (he would had to have served for 4 years before Sept 1914 in the Territorials), it has been suggested that his experience would have had him training new recruits for the Devon Bttn's from 1914 (presumably until he was time expired and then re enlisted?) Is it possible to date the number at all? Cheers Martin
