SteveE Posted 10 August , 2006 Share Posted 10 August , 2006 As part of some research I'm doing can I please beg another lookup from SKS with access to SDGW for any casualties of the 277th Railway Company, Royal Engineers. Many thanks in advance. Steve
Hambo Posted 10 August , 2006 Share Posted 10 August , 2006 Steve Looks like they lump all the railway companies into to one section without being able to search by company. there are 429 men shown but a quick glance looks like they don't show the company in most cases Hambo
SteveE Posted 10 August , 2006 Author Share Posted 10 August , 2006 Hambo I don't know how the search engine works for SDGW but on an earlier request I got the same answer, then somebody suggested that they could search for xxxth in the supplementary notes. Would this work with 277th? Thanks for taking the time to look and answer. Regards Steve

Guest geoff501 Posted 13 August , 2006 Share Posted 13 August , 2006 It takes the utmost skill and expertise Seriously though just put 277 in the supplementary notes. Or you could try 227 and find the one who May be an error, listed as 227 Railway Co. But on CWGC he is perhaps listed correctly as 277th: Name: PINCH Initials: J H Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Sapper Regiment: Royal Engineers Unit Text: 277th Railway Coy. Age: 26 Date of Death: 22/10/1917 Service No: 290433 Additional Information: Son of Marjorie Pinch, of Wynyard Station, Wolviston, Stockton-on-Tees, and the late Thomas Pinch. Casuality Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: IV. I. 5. Cemetery: TALANA FARM CEMETERY And also one who falls outside SDGW dates: Name: TREMAIN Initials: E T Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Sapper Regiment: Royal Engineers Unit Text: 277th Railway Construction Coy. Age: 29 Date of Death: 24/02/1920 Service No: WR/253881 Additional Information: Husband of Winnie Tremain, of The Ivies, Wallingford St., Wantage, Berks. Casuality Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Screen Wall. 235. 52A. Cemetery: CITY OF LONDON CEMETERY, MANOR PARK
