Eliopulos, San Francisco, Cal From the 4th Division Summary of Operations: In the zone of action of the 7th Infantry Brigade, the 2d battalion 47th Infantry attacked Bazoches from the southeast on the afternoon of the 9th. The right of the battalion reached the route nationale No.31 and the left entered the eastern outskirts of the village. Coming under heavy fire from the village and the heights to the north, the battalion fell back to the railroad and later withdrew across the Vesle behind the line of the 3rd battalion 47th infantry. That portion of the battalion along the railroad south of the river became the front line. Companies B & C 47th infantry crossed the river in the French zone and attacked Bazoches from the southwest in conjunction with the French. Bazoches and Le Haute Maison were entered by these companies but they were later forced to retire to the south of the river. August 7-15, 1918 the 47th Infantry suffered 40 DOW, 123 KIA, 507 W ....Remembered Today Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
