My particular interest is my grand father James Merrill who was shotwhilst on patrol on 20/3/1915

Hi steve

The Regimental History does not add anything new for the 20th March. It does give detail of their part in the Action at St. Eloi, on this 15th March, if you want I can scan it for you.

I have a database on the men of the K.S.L.I.; the only details I have on 6311 Pte. James, Merrill, is that he was also in the South Lancs. with the No. 60896. I hope you do not mind me adding that he was in the 2nd K.S.L.I. and wounded on 20-3-15. Could I ask were you got the info. about him being wound, I have copies of my local paper for 1915 which records K.S.L.I. casualties but his name is not recorded.

I am working on the 1st & 2nd Battalions, if I come across more info., I'll try and remember to pass it on, (you could also email in a few months to see if I have turn up any extra info.
