PBI

Recommended Posts

I have in my possession an assorted mixture of 1915 Stars,BW & V Medals,i do not want any Money for them, all i ask is that the recipient would place a few Poppy Crosses for me on the Grave of My Gt.Uncle Jack, who served in the 17th London Regt,KIA 15.09.1916,Caterpillar Valley Military Cem. V1.G.34.I cant make it for His Anniversary this year,so if a Forum Member could do the Honours in Return for the Medals i would be reet chuffed. :D ....

What a lovely thought, however Im sure that someone on the forum going near the cemetry will do this for you without the need of the gift. I do hope you find someone. Gareth

Mate,

If you are 'Skint' as you say in another posting do not give the medals away - either list them for sale to members on the site or sell them through E-Bay. As Gareth says I am sure someone will get you the photo you require for free although you may have to wait.

Best of luck

Joe

As Joe said you should sell them on ebay...my auntie has my GGF's medals and ive been looking to get originals of these...they seem to go for about £18.00 each or in excess of £80.00 for a named trio...

Good luck with the poppy crosses.

I am going to the Somme in October to visit 4 cemeteries which belong to my family.

I would be more than happy to go to Caterpillar cemetery for you.

If you'd like to give me more details I will gladly place a poppy for you and take photographs.

Best wishes

Why not list them here - you never know, you could be sat on their Great Grandfather's medal that they've been after for years!

Greetings to all Pals who have shown interest in the Medals,i have previously listed them on the Forum on 2 occassions, but no interest was shown at the Time.I wont ever deal with E-Bay again, after a few dodgy experiences. However the medals are now in the safe Hands of another Fellow Forum member. Thanks for all your replies to this Topic. :D

If you'd read PBI's previous post before firing off your own post, you'd have seen that he has listed them on the forum twice before. One of the listings is here: http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...c=51211&hl= and notes the following:

I have the Following Medals in my Possession, and i would like to see them reunited back with the recipients relatives. If you know of any details regarding these Medals owners i will be most happy to send them on to the Families,i know its a long shot but heres goes.

2 British Victory Medals

219770 Gunner J.E.Marsden

71798 Private P.Dyson RAMC

2 British War Medals

210770 Gunner J.E.Marsden

71798 Private P.Dyson RAMC

1 Trio awarded to

2579 Private W.Boulton 8th London Regiment

The 1915 Star in this Group was awarded to another man,so it looks like Boulton had lost his own original and has used this one,as the previous owners details have been defaced, but i can just about read the Following inscription.

10913 ????

Pte.....Looks like J.Mackenzie

Northumberlan Fusiliers.

If you would have reposted with the Name Rank & No again, It would have saved a lot of posts asking for the info. And as for for saying naughty things, look at yourself first & the way you posted it. ;)

Hi there,

My name is Andy Macdonald. I am definately going to Cat Valley on 15.9 of this year. I am going to mark the NZ attack near Flers, following the release of my book on the same. Happy to put a poppy on your relative's grave while I am there. Will take a photo also if you like. Will be walking over the battlefield for most of the day so am happy to visit the area where your relative died and take another pic. I will be staying in Flers for the whole weekend.

email me on: amacdonald@msm.co.uk

You have an gold mine of the Great War. Please list the medals as you may have one belonging too someones relative. I have spent years looking for my grandfathers with luck so I feel sure that you could make someones day. If I ever found mine I would pay handsomley for them so you too could win. As for posting the poppies, If I tour these fields this year I would gladly lay some on your behalf, I will try to remember the photograph.
