Chris Posted 17 July , 2006 Share Posted 17 July , 2006 Following on from my topic about a relative, Henry Middlebrook under Units etc, i have found from a war diary that he in the vicinity of Oxford Dump (at least that is how i read the text from the extract above) when he was killed by shellfire. Has anyone got a map that would show the location of this ammo/stores dump. Middlebrooks unit were near Poperinge but he was further forward i guess near Ypres in support of the Passchendale offensive when he met his death. snavek Posted 17 July , 2006 Share Posted 17 July , 2006 Chris, I'll start you off with a guess that the Dump could have been near the Oxford Road near Wieltje, unfortunately my Ypres map does'nt cover that sector. 'Before Endeavours Fade' says the right fork about 1km beyond Wiltje Farm Cemetery on the N313 will take you to Oxford Road Cemetery. I may be wrong but it puts him in the right area. IanA Posted 17 July , 2006 Share Posted 17 July , 2006 I, too, think that it was almost certainly in the vicinity of Oxford Road. There was some discussion about this on a Canadian site last year and, though not absolutely conclusive, I think this was their feeling. Cheers, Ian
