Remembered Today:

Roppenheim Communal Cemetery

Does anybody have any information about burials in the Roppenheim Communal Cemetery (13km North East from Strasbourg). The CWGC register does not appear to give any details.

I know that Lt. E. Cartwright and his observer (RAF - Independent Force)are buried there.

They were killed in action on 22.8.18 whilst bombing Mannheim and were last seen spinning out of control near the target. I do not understand why they ended up in Roppenheim 74Km away. Did the Germans 'concentrate' any other graves in the cemetery?

Merry Christmas

Dave
