Remembered Today:

Roderick McLeod 2nd Life Guards

This man is on Burntisland ROH.

On CWGC there is Roderick McLeod 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales Own) KIA 13/5/1915 Service No 4314.

SDGW gives that he was born North Leith, enlisted Edinburgh, residence Edinburgh.

SNWM gives nothing extra.

I traced a Roderick McLeod marrying a Janet Charles Blackadder in Leith on 17/9/1908 (He was 28)

Trying to see if they are one and same man. Any ideas?

Forgot to say Burntisland ROH has Roderick Mcleod as 2nd Life Guards.

CWGC has Roderick McLeod 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales Own) KIA 13/5/1915 Service No 4314.

Is there a link between Life Guards and Dragoon Guards? Excuse my ignorance.

I can only help on the last question. The Life Guards were part of the Household Cavalry - the British elite cavalry units. The Dragoon Guards were 'mere' cavalry of the line. So no direct link. This would not prevent a trooper starting out in one unit and ending up in the other - or someone making a mistake in one of the entries.
