Less inpressive was this caption below a shot of a tank 'The Battle of the Somme saw the world debut of tanks - nicknamed Big Willes by troops - in warfare. But they were only of limited use: by 1918 only 36 of the 49 tanks made available to support the infantry had reached their starting points. © PA ' There's almost as much coverage in the Daily Mail of the Somme as there is of the partners of England footballers partying and shopping...
