chris.wight Posted 30 June , 2006 Share Posted 30 June , 2006 Interesting article, Richard, thanks. The Times article gives a link to the Archives but I can't seem to find where the photos are unless I'm missing something? I did come across some other interesting photos, link but I don't believe these are the ones taken by Kugler.

With any luck this link will take you to them: http://www.landesarchiv-bw.de/ofs21/olf/st...ssi=011.001.012 As an English speaker I found it very difficult to get this far. Looks as if those Germans have got a different word for just about everything!
egbert Posted 30 June , 2006 Share Posted 30 June , 2006 Chris you found the right site, and Beppo linked the first page for the WW1 section. So this is where you want to start. The interesting feature: when you zoom a pic and come to the next window layer, click on the left upper corner . You will see a red square popping up; this may be dragged/drawn over any specific portion of the pic and it will magnify the section into the right window; pretty good resolution. Found this very useful - My German is quite poor so it has been a bit of pot luck for me when looking at the photos but each one I did view was facinating
DaveBrigg Posted 30 June , 2006 Share Posted 30 June , 2006 Excellent pictures! I loved the zoom - turning a blur at Menin into a lorry with what looked like solid tyres, crammed full of troops. And in another corner, a couple of sullen looking locals.
