Not sure if this info' has been posted before, but I have found a site dedicated to No. 1 New Zealand General Hospital, Brockenhurst, Hampshire:

http://www.southernlife.org.uk/

There is also a link to a site dedicated to No. 2 New Zealand General Hospital at Mount Felix, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey:

Beppo; a few years ago (2..3?) a lady called Clare Church spoke at our local WFA meeting, and I bought a copy of her book, "New Zealand Graves at Brockenhurst", which has biographical details, photos, etc of the 93 NZ burials in Brockenhurst Church yard.

ISBN 0-9543341-0-8, published by the author in 2002, beggared if I can recall the price.

I suspect that the info and pics from the book may be incorporated into this site. If you check out the "Roll of Honour" section you will see that a lot of the men have photos and brief biographical details.

I will try and post a link to one example here: http://www.southernlife.org.uk/nzgraves/dsc22.htm

The "Staff List" for Brockenhurst also includes some information on Staff Nurse Wilkie, who married a NZ officer called Hargest.

IIRC Paul Reed has mentioned him in this forum. He was a WW2 POW/ escapee, who was later killed in Normandy. Their son was killed at Monte Cassino whilst serving with the 2NZEF.

"Staff Nurse Wilkie (later Mrs James Hargest) trained in Dunedin. She served at No. 1 NZ General Hospital, Cairo, until she embarked for New Zealand on duty on the hospital ship Willochra in September 1915, and returned in January 1916, on duty on the hospital ship Marama. She was at No. 1 New Zealand General Hospital at Brockenhurst, but in September 1917, she resigned to be married to (then) Major Hargest, who later after a distinguished military career in World Wars 1 and 11, ranked Brigadier Hargest, C.B.E., D.S.O. and two bars, M.C."

Beppo - yes, looks like it. I can't actually open the website, as it comes up asking for something my computer doesn't like (if that isn't too non-techy), and shuts down on me! But the link's OK, and I'd say it's got the same info.
