MIDMED Posted 17 June , 2006 Share Posted 17 June , 2006 Hello I am researching an officer commissioned 2/Lt from the ranks of a territorial battalion into 5/coldstream gds, He served with the Artists in France during 1914 prior to being commissioned on the 13.3.1915, formerly 1627. Pte T.D.Spencer. 28-Lond.R . The military record that i have records nothing other than a date of Commission and that he attained the rank of Capt with the 5 coldstream gds suggesting some longevity regard his service with the unit. What did he do from march 1915. was he permanent staff 5/reserve battalion, if so what would this entail. ........ do you have the battalion Rolls.? Thanks Tom
Coldstreamer Posted 17 June , 2006 Share Posted 17 June , 2006 Hello I have some details on him Did you just purchase his pair of medals ?? Ian
Coldstreamer Posted 17 June , 2006 Share Posted 17 June , 2006 Hello I didnt bid on the medals as I wasnt happy with the wording of the auction house as they didnt seem 100 % certain of them being unique to him - especially as a 15 star is possibly out there but not seen the MIC so not sure what he did before joining the Guards. Been bitten before with officers medals not being what they seemed so went on the cautious side this time Had a look at my notes Served in the 2nd Battalion (Company Commander 3 coy) at Villers Pol in November 1918 - he was demobbed 24.6.19. He spent most of the war with the 5th Btn at Windsor Ian
