Guest Patmagz Posted 15 June , 2006 Share Posted 15 June , 2006 I am looking for some help with two WW1 songs that I cannot identify. Dingle Community Theatre are performing PALS (about the Liverpool Pals) in July and there are two songs in it that I am unable to identify. One is "The Spirit of the Pals" and the other is "Wooden Dummies they may be". We have the words but no tunes. I think the first line of the first is "We gets our rum and lime juice and of the second is "Our machine gun's deadly rattle " I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of melodies for these songs as I have never heard of them before; and I know a lot of songs! Kate Wills Posted 15 June , 2006 Share Posted 15 June , 2006 Is there any indication in the script? Hymn tunes were often applied to satirical lyrics during the war, so perhaps these songs fall into that category. Sorry this is not much help.
