Old Tom Posted 10 June , 2006 Share Posted 10 June , 2006 Hello, The development and introduction to service of wireless (telegraphy and telephony) is a subject which interests me, but one which I find difficult to research. http://www.fairmile.fsbusiness.co.uk/radioset.htm provides quite a lot of information, but not I fear about French equipment. I would like to know some detail of the set, when it was taken into use and at what formation level. Old Tom
widdowmaker Posted 10 June , 2006 Author Share Posted 10 June , 2006 I am building a website about polish equipment of 1918 - 1939. In one of my books (about decrypting blosheviks radio codes by polish troops)I found some information about the french radios which came in 1919 and 1920. I have some pictures, but I cannot define the type of the radio. This is what I found: 1/Radiostation E.3 - Lamp radiostation. In France used also in vertions "E.3 bis" and "E.3 ter.". Range 150 km. E.3 ter in army commands were workong on waves 1400 up to 1700 m. In Corps HQ waves 1000 up to 1340 m. In division radio net waves from 600 up to 1000 m. Came to Poland in number of 25 with the "Blue Army" in 1919. 2/ Radiostations E.10 - In France na Division, some brigades and regiments. Range 40 km. Waves from 600 up to 1000 m. I finished a topic about those. Blue Army brought 10 of them. Here is a picture of that in polish military on my server. http://www.iirp.prv.pl/lacznosc/radiostacje/e10/e10_2.jpg 3/ Radio A.1 - In France in division hq level and corps, but only for spying on the enemy radio signals. 4/ Radio T.M.1915" - In France in division hq level and corps, but only for spying on the enemy radio signals. I have some technical data on this one if you are interested. 5/ Montpellier radios - bought by Poland from France in 1919. They range was greater than the E.10, so they were send to Army Group HQ's.
