Devils Own Posted 6 June , 2006 Share Posted 6 June , 2006 Has everybody had a go on the website www.googleearth.com. The software is free to download and you can zoom in to ANYWHERE in the world. Its amazing. I have just had a go at Gallipoli. Its great for looking at the terrain and clearly shows why an attack at Bulair might have been preferable. Check it out. Ozzie Posted 6 June , 2006 Share Posted 6 June , 2006 google earth allowed me to have a good look at Heath and Reach, but unfortunately some other countries were not very clear in some of the areas I was looking for. But probably will be in time. Cheers Kim
Guest gumbirsingpun Posted 6 June , 2006 Share Posted 6 June , 2006 i hae had a go on googleearth beffore, i think google earth can be a powerful tool for geographic analysis of many battle fields, but it has to be developed more regards tuna
Devils Own Posted 6 June , 2006 Author Share Posted 6 June , 2006 True, it is not well developed for very close (down to 500ft) analysis of some areas (particulalry rural ones) but I am sure it will get better. And for a demonstartion of the terrain at Gallipoli it is quite interesting. It seems to pick out towns better, London is quite fascinating, but greenaery blurs a bit. maybe on the pay per view version it is better. I was hoping to observe Somme craters etc.
ChrisC Posted 9 June , 2006 Share Posted 9 June , 2006 google earth allowed me to have a good look at Heath and Reach, Why would someone who lives in the wide open spaces of Victoria want to look at Heath & Reach???? I'm intrigued! Chris C
