RGA vs RFA

Is the uniform of the RFA very similar to the RGA?

I have quite a few photos which I thought were RGA but I now believe some may be RFA.

Could this be possible?

Apart from a shoulder title they are to all intents identical.

Thanks, I did fear that was the case.

Was the white lanyard exclusively worn by the artillery only on the left shoulder? I understand that the wearing of lanyards became more popular as the war progressed but were the non artillery limited to wearing on the right shoulder only or if left shoulder then excluded from wearing white?

Hello,

As a matter of interest gunners were wearing a white lanyard on the left soldier in 1950 and probably still do except that in dpm (camoflage) kit they are not. These things never change. I have understood that the idea was to have a spare lanyard to fire the gun if the one fitted broke.

Not a uniform expert but ASC also wore Landyard left shoulder as did some yeomanry sections. I dont know about it being more popular, it was the uniform so had to be worn under certain condioions and d ress regulations. Landyard colours did vary but the exact variations are not known to me.

I have seen mounted RGA men with landyard on right shoulder too?
