Armand

It looks as though this man was in a Railway Company of the Royal Engineers.

It is not possible from this information to tell which battles he was involved in, or where he was. To do that requires some work in trying to find his service records at the Public Record Office in London.

Good evening

Following the message of Armand,

On a copy of its certificate of demobilization I found a reference

n° RASC/M374025/6376

What that wants to say?

I specify that my grandfather was soldier second class

Thank you

SANT STEPHANE

In that case, my first assumption was wrong. He was not in the RE.

RASC = Royal Army Service Corps.

You can see a lot more about them on www.1914-1918.net. Click through to "Transport".

There was no official "second class soldier" in the British Army of the Great war. There was a medical grading, with a number of different categories. Could he have been "second class" from a medical viewpoint?
