Well done Tom, Chaz and Hill 60. Remember its not necessessary to say if you have medals plaques rank number etc. Just a name will suffice. If you wish to add them that is ok though.

This post is starting to have a life of its own. Who knows, in the future it may end up as being the largest list of existing awards anywhere and everyone who posts here will be part of it.

Well done all, as old Mr Grace used to say, 'You've all done very well'.

Kind regards.

Tom.

Tom - I will 'flesh out' Jean and my collections when I get my hands on them (hopefully tomorrow) as we don't keep them at our house.

To be honest we haven't researched many of them, and some would appear to have a good story or two behind them e.g. a WWI Veteran made a POW in WW2 and a possible chef to the British Top Brass in WWI.

Yet again Trojan stuff from Hill 60, Donny, Les, and Chaz.!!! Give yourselves a clap on the back, you've earned it!!. Haveyou seen the amount of hits this posting gets? That shows the interest there is in it. It is only made possible by people like yourselves who show that an award whether it is on paper or on a medal, plaque etc exists. Its probably the most unselfish posting forum pals will ever make and as you can see it is so very much appreciated by those who search in the remotest possiblilty of the survival of something lost actually existing, if you get my humble meaning.

To understand what posting on this topic means please go back to the my initial posting, it explains everything.

I know many medal dealers who would never dream of listing here. I have stood in front of them at fairs begging them for a list of available awards to let those who search that such an award exist and 9 times out of ten the just dont want to know.

However to all who have posted here please keep up the good work!! It may not mean a lot to you but to me it shows that you are the ones who lead from the front.

Men follow such example and I am so very proud of you all.

Kind regards.

Tom.

I'm with Hill 60 - I too initially thought the worst ('specially after the recent forum scare). Anyhoo... Only too glad to share my wares with everyone. I can't believe that I hadn't replied before given the time this thread has been going. I hadn't noticed the icon next to the thread wasn't a "posted" icon until I searched the thread for other Turners & Cooles. What a muppet

Tom

My first foray into WW1 Medal ownership, the medals' first job is to go to school with my grandson for a WW1 history session, and then,if they come home again (!), a bit of research. I think this guy was at Gallipoli and seems to have survived to war's end,but it will be part of the responsibilty of ownership to find out all about his service.

BWM and VM.

3577 Private W.S.STEER The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment.

I reckon there is a 1914-1915 Star out there somewhere !

Haven't found him in WO372 yet !

It's a good service you are doing for the Forum !

Best wishes

Sotonmate
