Pals

Icouldn't believe it when I saw this x-ray picture in the service record of Captain Buss of the Buffs.

He sustained shrapnel wounds in 1916 and after several operations was sent back to Mesopotamia. After suffering fits and severe headaches, this x-ray was taken at Baghdad in 1918. It shows fragments in the frontal area of the skull. He was returned to UK for an operation and died 7 days before the war ended.

There are a whole series of X Ray files in MH106 at the PRO, and as you suggest, they are quite fascinating to look at. Pity they only kept a small sample.
