armourersergeant Posted 3 October , 2003 Share Posted 3 October , 2003 This is book that has been discribed as real ground breaking writing as it was one of the first to take the topic away from the individuals and more to look at the workings etc of the BEF. Can anyone tell me if this true and if so how would you recommend it as a good read. Arm.

Mark Hone Posted 3 October , 2003 Share Posted 3 October , 2003 Excellent book. Read in conjunction with Paddy Griffith's 'Battle Tactics of the Western Front' and 'British Fighting Methods in the Great War' (which he edited) for slightly more recent surveys. David_Blanchard Posted 3 October , 2003 Share Posted 3 October , 2003 for 'firepower' as a balance i would suggest a survey of the German 'gunnery' techniques 'Steel Wind' by David Zabecki.
