The only clues to this one are:

Believe the badge is Suffolk REgiment

Written on back of photo is 'Mrs Middleton'

A Private Cecil George Middleton of 4th Suffolks was killed 15th August 1916 - on Thiepval. Could this be him?

Chris.

I'm pretty certain that it's not a Suffolks badge. There's no crown. In my opinion, I'd say it's more likely to be a Northamptonshire Regiment badge (with a slight possibility of it being an Essex Regt. badge - though I'd put my money on the Northants).

There are 3 Middletons in the Northants on SDGW, but I'd say that to say he was one of them would be a long shot. It's not that uncommon a name.

Dave.
