Can anybody tell me anything about No. 1 Section Tyne Garrision Co. Durham. Is there any photos of it around or does anybody know anything about the C.O.'s that were there during the war etc.. Any information would be of use.

Many Thanks

Conor

This is a wild one Connor, but you may well find it was based at Tynemouth Castle manning the naval batteries positioned there to discourage a German invasion. The Irish connection is that after Easter 1916 it was manned by elements of the 16th and possibly the 10th Divisions who were sent there in the aftermath of the Easter Rising because their loyalty was thought to be questionable. It is hard to imagine a German invasion at all, but a landing at Tynemouth? So this was seen as somewhere safe to park units regarded as a problem.
