Mark Posted 21 September , 2003 Share Posted 21 September , 2003 Today I am remembering my great great uncle R/7132 Corporal Albert Fort of 7 Bn KRRC who, along with his two mates Y/1651 Rifleman Charles Raymond and R/11023 Rifleman Thomas Henry Smith, was killed outright by a shell whilst in the trenches just to the north of Railway Wood 88 years ago today. It was Albert's first tour of duty in the trenches having arrived in France just 18 days previously. The three pals lie side by side in Potijze Burial Ground Cemetery. Rest in Peace lads.
