Guest Hussar Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Just had to let you all know. If anyone is thinking of replacing their printer/scanner or investing in a 3-in-1, I bought myself one today. The Lexmark X1150. Now, here's the GOOD bit!..... COMPUTER WORLD (NOT PC WORLD!) have got them on sale for an Incredible £34.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But only untill the 22nd of this month.
paul guthrie Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Made by the way Hussar, in Lexington, Kentucky! So, all of you buy one , maybe somehow a bit of it will trickle down to your pal Paul!
Guest Hussar Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Paul, Does that mean that, with your insider contacts, you'll be able to get cheap (or even FREE!!) replacement cartridges????????
paul guthrie Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Actually one of my best pals was the plaintiffs lawyer in a case that cost them over $250000, they had an employee indicted on doctored evidence. If they know who I am they would charge me double!
Neil Mackenzie Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Hussar. As my printer gave up the ghost yesterday I am very interested. But to show my ignorance is there a web site for Computer World and if so where is it? A Google search has drawn a blank for me. Thanks. Neil
Simon Furnell Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Hello Paul. I hope you are well. Thanks for the info on Lexmark,KY. Good printers, judging by the 3,8 year old ones, that are still plying their trade at my works. Not only the finest Bourbon in the world, but the home of Ali as well and decent 3 in 1's. All the best Paul. Regards. Simon Furnell. All the best
chris basey Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 Hussar How much are the expendables for the Lexmark? It seems that the hardware is virtually given away these days in order to sell all the necessaries.
MartinWills Posted 18 September , 2003 Posted 18 September , 2003 One of the catches with Lexmark kit is that the consumables are not cheap and "cheaper" compatibles are not generally available. A friend who had bought an inexpensive Lexmark was shocked to discover that a set of replacement ink cartridges was going to cost more than the printer did as new. I guess the caveat is to look at the cost of ownership - in particular the consumables as well as the headline price. My old Epson is churning along fine (it sits beside an inexpensive laser printer) and the cartridges are costing about £2.50 each. Martin
Guest Hussar Posted 19 September , 2003 Posted 19 September , 2003 Neil, I don't know if there's a web site but STAPLES or OFFICE WORLD sometimes have a Computer World within them, certainly in Portsmouth and Southampton they do. I've just checked the reciept and there's no website or email address on their either. Chris and Martin, Yeh, the cartridges are pretty expensive £24 for colour and £18 for black which, in this case means I got the 3-in-1 for free and got a discount on the cartridges!!! But even if you only use it as a scanner it's good value for money.
Drummy Posted 19 September , 2003 Posted 19 September , 2003 Re this great sounding deal on the Lexmark x1150 printer, any idea if there is a 'Computer world' in the Manchester / Cheshire area ?? Cannot find a website? Thanks Neil.
Guest Hussar Posted 20 September , 2003 Posted 20 September , 2003 Neil and Drummy, Good news, I have found the website for Computer World! They don'y show the special offer on the x1150 but thats probably because it's a short term sale untill 22nd only. http://www.thecomputerworld.co.uk Their is a store in Manchester :- 128a Halle Mall Arndale Centre Manchester M42EB
Neil Mackenzie Posted 20 September , 2003 Posted 20 September , 2003 H. Many thanks. You have saved me a few quid. Neil
Guest Hussar Posted 20 September , 2003 Posted 20 September , 2003 Glad to help. By the way, after our recent discussion on ink cartridge prices, I have found this site :- http://www.choicestationery.com They do both own brand and manufactuers originals at very reasonable prices.
shinglma Posted 20 September , 2003 Posted 20 September , 2003 Re Choice Stationery - I have used them for a couple of years now and would highly recommend them if asked. Contact me off list if you want more details. Regards Mike S
