Remembered Today:

mystery photo

At Villers Bret last week a tour member oicked up a small photo literally blowing in the wind. It was a glossy, but small, b&w portrait of two soldiers captioned "

Pts. K.P. Shadgett, ....[next line]

A.G.Shadgett, K.I.A. 2/4/17."

The Honour Roll link from AWM & the CWGC site verify AG's fate, but there are no details on the fate of KP, [replicating the blank space on above caption]

AG is buried at Norieul so it would not have come from his grave.

Weird? or what?

Paddy

Alan George Shadgett served in the 50th Bn AIF.

Kenneth Pettit Shadgett also served in the 50th Battalion and had the service number of 3575. He survived the war but on the nominal roll there is no return to Australia date for him. The Australian nominal roll was compiled in 1919, so KP Shadgett might have stayed in the UK into 1920 on one of the AIF work or education schemes which might explain the lack of return date.

There was also a Frank James Shadgett who served in the 50th Bn

He enlisted 12/11/17 - RTA - 03/01/19

Regards

Andrew
