RFC/RAF training squadron histories

Hi there,

I seem to remember coming across a book which gave a complete list of RFC and RAF training and support squadrons/units.

My problem is I can no longer remember its title.

I wonder if anybody could help me -- what published books would be good to give a history - not just of the service squadrons -- but the training and support units of the RFC/RAF during 1914/18?

S.F. Wise - Canadian Airmen and the First World War

There is a chapter or two dealing in some depth with the RFC/RAF training operation in Canada. By the end of the war this was producing some 15% of total British pilot output.

Trivia corner: Do we all know that RFC Canada operated training squadrons in Texas?

The RAF Museum published a book on the history of a selection of RAF Squadrons - is it this one?

Thank you very much for your help.

I also posted on the Aerodrome and was told about

Royal Air Force Training and Support Units by Ray Sturtivant, John Hamlin and James Halley - this may be what I was originally thinking of -- the great thing about asking questions is that you get a whole lot more avenues of research opening up before you ,as people come in with answers you didn't even know you needed!

Anyway. I've reminded myself to WRITE DOWN useful suggestions!

Relying merely on my memory does not work!

Thanks once again

Tim ;)

I promise I am not being picky, but the correct title is 'Royal Air Force Flying Training and Support Units.

Published by Air Britain (Historians) Ltd, 1997 ISBN: 0 85130 252 1

It just might help if someone is doing a google search....
