Quote--" At 6 p.m. on the 24th (Mar ,18) the 4 S. Staffs were in a trench west of the Bapaume-Arras road, just south of the MONUMENT. at 8.0 P.M. they had retired across the main road and dug in 400 yards due east of BIENVILLERS on the right of 74th Brigade ( War Diary & K. S. p 155)"

Where/what was the Monument and where was/is Bienvillers not shown on the Laon Arras series IGN map.

Hello,

I have Biefvillers (exactly Biefvillers-les Bapaume) about one km of Bapaume.

Cliff

Bienvillers-aux-bois is about 20km east of Doullens and 20 km north of Albert.

Thanks for your help, after further digging found the 4th Staffs retreated earlier in the day (24th) from a positionon the Beugny--Fremicourt road so it must be Biefvillers.

Kind regards Cliff.
