Remembered Today:

29th Battalion AIF

Recommended Posts

I am John Alan Baldwin, Melbourne Australia, and am looking for a picture of a relative - Pte Albert Victor Baldwin 4513 (29th Battalion AIF) who died from wounds received in Flanders on 12-Dec-1917. I am looking for either a group or an individual photograph/image. I believe that he left Melbourne on the transport ship HMAT Medic (not absolutely sure). He was part of the 12th reinforcements of the 29th Battalion of the 8th Brigade of the 5th Division.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

John.

Welcome to the Forum.

Normally I would suggest that you start with a search of the AWM Collection database here (AWM Collection) - if you have not done so already. You never know your luck.

I cannot seem to get into it at present - hopefully you guys in Australia will have more luck.

Mr. Mackenzie,

Thankyou for replying so quickly.

I followed you suggestion and performed a photosearch. Although they have many images, it appears that most of them cannot be displayed.

thankyou for the help you have offered.

regards

The book Steve mentions about the 29th Battalion is called 'Black and Gold" which is in reference to their colour patch.

Even if it doesn't have a picture of your relative you should still be able to find about what the battalion was doing on the day he died.

The following is a link to Ron's Website.

You could also try your State Library for photos.

Cheers

Andrew
