christine liava'a Posted 7 September , 2003 Share Posted 7 September , 2003 I am now doing a thorough check on all my BEF entries, so will be coming up with odd individuals about whom I know nothing but their names, for more information if possible. First on the list Lieutenant L G C Booth -Suffolk Regiment possibly the son of a stipendiary magistrate, ie British Colonial Service. Any information? gem22 Posted 8 September , 2003 Share Posted 8 September , 2003 Christine I've looked through the History of the Suffolks and I can find no mention of this man. Do you have anything else on him? Garth
christine liava'a Posted 8 September , 2003 Author Share Posted 8 September , 2003 No, His name as given is mentioned in a file held in Fiji Archives of Men from Fiji who have servd or are serving in the British Army or Overseas armies, written I would say in late 1917, as there are future dates in 1918 mentioned for others The Stipendiary Magistrate, who may be no connection , but equally could be his father is R M Booth - 1911

christine liava'a Posted 9 September , 2003 Author Share Posted 9 September , 2003 Could be. The document I have was compiled during the war, and the men who had travelled to Britain by themselves, as opposed to an organized group, are only mentioned if they have been heard about by Sir Everard Im Thurn in London, who was an earlier Governor of Fiji, & acted as agent and looker-after of all the men from Fiji. Do you have any idea where the school is?
