It's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this man. He was wounded on 1st July, and spent 3 days in a shell hole with the great-uncle of a friend before making it back to British lines, and from there a hospital in Blighty. I hope to track him down at the PRO one day soon, but thought that a Somme or 36th Div expert might by some chance already know something. Many thanks.

Do you have a number for him ? I will look him up for you in the newspapers. It might be a tiny while though also do you know where he was from ?

Thanks Conor, I'll see if I can get some more info on him (nothing at the moment, but maybe in a day or two I might have something extra).
