Guest Praetorian Posted 9 December , 2002 Share Posted 9 December , 2002 I am researching my family tree. I have managed to track down and gather together records and information on my Grandfather and 2 of his brothers that during the war were servicng with the RGA or the RCGA. However, I have not managed to find out anything about one man, Charles William Odell. He was born 7 August 1884 in St. Peter Jersey and is shown as a boy soldier serving in the RGA in Plymouth in the 1901 census. The family stories say he survived the war and ended up being posted toCeylon where he either died of heat stroke or took his own life sometime between October 1918 and November 1925. All the usual sources (MoD, Medals Roll at Kew etc) have drawn a blank. I am open to suggestions and ideas as to where I might find any information about him and his death and about the units in Ceylon over that period. my email is david.goodchild1@ntlworld.com
