One of the more touching inclusions in the Bury Memorial Book for 1916 is Trooper George C Paget of the Canterbury Mounted Rifles, who died at Fulham Hospital on 5th January 1916 and is buried in the NZ Plot of Kensal Green Cemetery. He was the son of Sarah M. Paget of 440 Tuam Street Christchurch. His connection with Bury, Lancs, appears to be merely that he 'made many friends in Tottington ( a district of Bury) while an inmate of Holly Mount Hospital' Sadly there is no picture of Trooper Paget but I wonder if one of our New Zealand Pals might have more information about him which we could include on our Virtual War Memorial?
