Remembered Today:

9th Lancers

I have a photocopy of an article (on a topic of interest to me) which appears to come from a publication entitled 'The Dehli Spearsman'. In it there is mention of the 9th Lancers and I wonder it someone knows whether this would have been their Regimental Magazine. The 9th's badge incorporates crossed lances so it is quite logical but I would like some confirmation. Hand written on the page is the date March 1928 - the topic relates to WW1.

Yes, The Delhi Speaman was the Regimental journal of the 9th Lancers and also of its successor the 9th/12th Lancers.

Chris.

The website below is the unoffical website of the 9th/12th Lancers and, as Charles says, the history indicates that this is indeed their nickname earned during the Indian Mutiny.
