WW1 Royal Marine

My grandfather William Henry Fletcher born 1889 served with the Royal Marines and was stationed at Portsmouth. He was injured by shrapnel whilst in the Dardenelles, and was brought home to Manchester where he was hospitalised. This is all I know, except that he was supposedly in St Mary's Hospital in 1916, but as he married in the first quarter of 1916, I wondered whether his injuries were sustained in 1915. Any info gladly received re where to search or read further. Thanks.

You need to go to the National Archives at Kew, there you find his service register in ADM 159. To find his service number, look at the WW1 medal roll, for him it is in ADM 171/168. Both are on microfilm.
