Terry Posted 23 August , 2003 Share Posted 23 August , 2003 Bob, I agree. They were the first of a long line of brave men who paid a heavy price. My 1914 Star groups, while they form only a small portion of my overall World War One collection, are very special to me. Terry
armourersergeant Posted 23 August , 2003 Share Posted 23 August , 2003 I have often wondered what it must be like to die not knowing if your sacrifice was in vain or wether it won the day. this is what these boys and many that followed did, but these men will forever live in my memory. God bless, never forgotten. Arm.
mmbennett Posted 8 September , 2003 Share Posted 8 September , 2003 Mons, a brave and outstanding performance by the BEF against enormous odds. However, the greatest feats of bravery may be found during the exhausting retreat from the battle - how men can acquire such a rate of endurance an yet still fight with all their efforts astounds me... Greenwoodman Posted 9 September , 2003 Share Posted 9 September , 2003 On the same note as Arm's post:- Went the day well We died and never knew But well or ill England, we died for you Certainly puts out a powerful message to remember them.
