dom Posted 17 December , 2005 Share Posted 17 December , 2005 Hi I am trying to fathom out infomation about the following soldier; 1931 Pte William Tolmie, Cameron Highlanders. KIA 18/5/15. CWGC says he was in the 4th Battalion Camerons. MIC says Medals 1914-15 star trio(which I have) and theatre of war (1) France, date of entry therein 19/2/15, Believed killed. Which is fair enough. Its the Morayshire Roll of Honour which is confusing,It says; Tolmie,William 1931 Pte 1/6 Seaforths and Cameron Highlanders?,joined at Inverness 4/8/14 which I thought would make him eligible for the 1914 Aug/Nov Star. The rest of the info on him seems alright. Anyone any suggestions? regards Stan
Coldstreamer Posted 18 December , 2005 Share Posted 18 December , 2005 Hello The 1914 star was only awarded if you went early on - date of enlistment doesnt come into it really If he joined in August he would have needed training up..so seems ok to me Ian
