All,

PSA photgraph. It is a cap badge in white metal. I am trying to tie it to units. John gaylors book has it down as the 4th Volunteer battalion for the Black Watch but does not elaborate any more. Can any one provide any more info? I seem to remember it was worn beyond 1908 by another unit but cannot place it.

:) Hello,

Nice badge. it was indeed worn by the 4th {Perthshire} Volunteer Bn. the Black Watch. They also wore a smaller version on their collars and a medium version on the sporran. They wore this as a cap badge until 1908, when they began to wear a Black Watch pattern of badge, however they probably continued to wear the old type collar badge. This badge is the Coat of Arms of the City of Perth. A badge of about the same size as the sporran badge was worn by the Perthshire Police on the blue helmat.

The other unit, which still wear this badge is the Glen Almond school OTC and Pipe Band.

Hope this helps,

Stewart
