L/Cpl Charles Frank Leonard - 2nd KRRC (1914-18)

Charles was discharged on the 27th September 1918 with wounds. He had enlisted 13.9.13 and arrived in France on 13.8.14 thus qualifying for 14 Star with Clasp and Roses.

Can anyone help with the likely action of his wounding in 1918 as the 2/KRRC roll gives no last day of active service.

Thanks

Peter Leonard

Peter,

My grandfather Thomas William Smith, 6590, was a RSM in 2KRRC fighting throughout the war. He survived and died in 1975 leaving me his diary of the first three months. I have 2KRRCs War Diary which should include the info you require. What dates are you interested in and what details do you have off Charles' war experiences?

Hi again Peter,

I have looked at 2KRRC War Record. They were involved in the battle of Berthaucourt on Sept 18th and the capture of Pontruet on the 24th. Both actions were part of the forcing of the Hindenberg Line.

Mike - thanks for your notes. All I know is he was discharged from the army in Sept 18, but I don't know how long he was back in England convalescing. I assume he was wounded earlier in 1918.

I have no information on his war experiences.

Regards Peter
