PhilB Posted 9 December , 2005 Share Posted 9 December , 2005 Neil Malcolm seems to have had a consistently bad press and to have been a somewhat unpleasant character. I believe he finished as a divisional commander. Does anyone have interesting info about his rise despite these negative qualities, his post war life or a good photo? armourersergeant Posted 9 December , 2005 Share Posted 9 December , 2005 Neil Malcolm is given as the apolgisits excuse for Gough being so unpopular! I am not so sure that this is true. If so then Gough should have known he was a bad influence and replaced him. This is cetainly the route that Farrar Hockley goes in trying to defend Gough in his bio of him. I am also sure that some corps commanders enjoyed having Malcolm under them after he returned to div command. cant give you much more than that I'm afraid. regards Arm
