JOSTURM Posted 9 December , 2005 Share Posted 9 December , 2005 I am trying to locate a photograph (and further information) of Sgt Burgess from 1914-15 on leave or prior to the war. He was likley a pre-war regular and there may exist group photographs of NCO's where he can be identified. I have his DCM, one of few awarded to the QVR. Burgess sadly died in October 15 and is at Carnoy Military Cemetery on the Somme. Can anyone who knows the Queen Victoria Rifles help ? bmac Posted 9 December , 2005 Share Posted 9 December , 2005 He is mentioned twice in the QVR's history and the citation for his DCM is also given. Nineteen men of the QVR were awarded the DCM. Let me know if you need more.
