tonycad Posted 2 December , 2005 Share Posted 2 December , 2005 Kathleen Bruce was a successful sculptor at the time she married Robert Falcon Scott. of Antarctic fame. Following his death returning from the South Pole, Kathleein Scott turned out many sculptures, including two of Scott. At the end of WW1 she sculpted many of the memorials to the fallen. Does anyone know of any of these. Tony
ceebee Posted 6 December , 2005 Share Posted 6 December , 2005 Tony I have found one: Huntington War Memorial, Cambridgeshire - The Brooding Soldier Details are recorded on the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials website. See here. Unfortunately, there is no photo. However, there is a reference to Derek Boorman's book At the going down of the sun: British First World War memorials. Perhaps more information can be found there. Cheers Chris
DMcNay Posted 8 December , 2005 Share Posted 8 December , 2005 Yes, Derek Boorman's book has a little information and a photograph. It's rather a nice sculpture. I'll scan the photo later and post it up.
