Raster Scanning Posted 19 August , 2003 Share Posted 19 August , 2003 While helping to strip the aluminium alloy off an old caravan (legally), my friend found a bag of bits and bobs that he passed to me knowing my interest in such things. Among the trench art bullet pencils and 2 live WW2 dated cannon shells (a trip to the police station to take part in the gun/ammo amnesty was in order) I found this privately made dog tag and 2 shoulder titles, all to the above unit. I think they were a costal defence unit, can anyone tell me more, incedently there was also a British War Medal to a Cpl GL Hammond, 19490, RFC and his 1901 school attendance medal. Thanks. charlesmessenger Posted 20 August , 2003 Share Posted 20 August , 2003 In 1914 the Sussex RGA TF consisted of two companies - No 1 based at Brighton and No 2 at Lewes. As far as I can gather, the were dissolved during the war and their members probably sent to RGA units in France. Charles M
Raster Scanning Posted 20 August , 2003 Author Share Posted 20 August , 2003 Hi Charles. this makes sense as there were also some standard RGA titles as well. Thanks. John.
