dom Posted 1 December , 2005 Share Posted 1 December , 2005 Hello Does anyone know where the CWGC information comes from? I am still trying to find out about where the information on; 9007 Lance Corporal Malcolm Macleod 9th Bt Seaforths kia 20/8/1917 came from and the claim of him winning the DCM (MM on his MIC) and also of his service on the N/W frontier. I have drawn a blank on his DCM and used up all avenues of research with no luck. I would be most interested where the original information came from as another lead to follow.Anyone able to help? Stebie9173 Posted 1 December , 2005 Share Posted 1 December , 2005 Stan, I saw your earlier Topic before but had forgotten about Malcolm. Since then I have assembled my 1917 list of MMs and from said database: Gazette / Page / Date / Details 30259 / 11 / 28-Aug-17 / 9007 Pte (L/C). M. Macleod, Sea. Highrs. And therefore: http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/archiveVi...&selHonourType= If this is on a "standard" 3 month delay then probably won around May 1917. Sorry I forgot about you, Steve. Terry Denham Posted 1 December , 2005 Share Posted 1 December , 2005 CWGC were supplied the award info by military sources. However, there could have been a clerical error caused by a simple typo in the data inputting process. If you can prove that the award should be an MM with an LG entry, it can be changed. Hi I just was given the information from a helpful forum member with LG email address of the page that now proves that Malcolm Macleod did indeed receive the MM and not the DCM.So I will get in touch with the CWGC with this info. Guest DianeHatwell Posted 7 December , 2005 Share Posted 7 December , 2005 As far as I can tell, my man's mother's name was wrong in the cemetery book and the war graves info. Everything else seemed spot on. Diane
