corkhead100 Posted 26 November , 2005 Share Posted 26 November , 2005 I think this is a shiney blue/grey rimless type A Brodie that Marcus Cotton refers to in his magazine articles..........any thoughts?
Old Tom Posted 29 November , 2005 Share Posted 29 November , 2005 Hello, I'm no expert on helmets, but happened to listen to a Radio 4 programme dealing with a one time film producer. It was said that for a film including action in the early part of the war the wardrobe staff suffered injuries using pliers to remove the rims from the only helmets they could find. corkhead100 Posted 30 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 30 November , 2005 Hi Old Tom, I'm sure that it's a genuine rimless, mild steel, early Brodie. I'm pretty sure the paintwork is original, but the liner has an expanded foam rubber dome pad which I am curious about. Its similar to the oval shaped, orange colour pad used in the 1938 helmets. Was this a 1915 experimental liner? Was foam rubber around in 1915?.........can't seem to get the photos to work, but they are posted at the following address.
