David_Blanchard Posted 24 November , 2005 Share Posted 24 November , 2005 During the course of some recent research I noticed that a correspondent had mentioned that he could tell if a soldier (not officers) had been made POW. This applied to 1918 and the DLI regiment. This information came from 'a red cross missing list'. Has anyone come across these lists would they apply to all regiments? This would prove useful in terms of my research in the Aisne battle. I know the names of most officers, but not the men who were taken POW. So, could anyone tell me how I could get a look at these lists? Apologies if this has been already debated on another thread. Graham Stewart Posted 24 November , 2005 Share Posted 24 November , 2005 David Yes, they do exist and the Red Cross Archive here in the UK hold some but not all. All regiments are covered and also Imperial troops.I have all the Northumberland Fusilier lists that they have for 1918, plus others from the beginning of the War. The Red Cross in Switzerland have the information relating to POW's, but sadly won't share it, and the NA hold all of the returned POW reports. Regards, Graham. David_Blanchard Posted 24 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 24 November , 2005 Graham, Thanks I would certainly be interested in the POW records for the period 27th May - 6th June 1918 for the Northumberlands. Regards David
