Guest Hill 60 Posted 5 December , 2002 Share Posted 5 December , 2002 S/ODGW shows his name as Howard Napier Besley. CWGC just adds the grave reference # as I. J.
Kate Wills Posted 5 December , 2002 Share Posted 5 December , 2002 I have a file on Edward Maurice Besly (not Besley) of the Yorkshire Regt and RE who survived the war. He was born in Normanby 26 Jan 1888. I will dig out more if you think it is relevent.
Guest ErnieT Posted 28 March , 2015 Share Posted 28 March , 2015 Am interested in any information about Edward Maurice Besly born Normanby 1888 also his brother Ernest Francis Withers Besly born Normanby 1892. Both appear in the Remembrance Book "Those who Served" at Great Ayton.
WDPyke Posted 8 September , 2015 Share Posted 8 September , 2015 I think he was the brother of Captain Douglas Percy Besley of the Tank Corps. The family came from Newton Abbot in Devon and moved to Bournemouth, where Douglas went to school. (Not sure which school Howard went to - it might have been the same one - I am still investigating).
