MParnham Posted 23 November , 2005 Share Posted 23 November , 2005 I know this is a long shot but would anyone have the unit history for this battery - or know if such a thing exists? Thanks Martin
rflory Posted 23 November , 2005 Share Posted 23 November , 2005 As far as I know there is no unit history for 129 Battery, RFA. From Aug 1914 to 14 May 1916 129 Battery served served under 30 Howitzer Brigade, RFA in the 3rd Divisional Artillery. It was broken up on 14 May 1916 and 129 Battery, less one section, went to 42 Bde, RFA in the 3rd Division. The lone section joined D Bty, 23 Brigade on 11 May 1916. The war diary of 30 How Bde, RFA for the period August 1914 to January 1916 can be found in the National Archives at WO95/1399. The war diary of 42 Bde, RFA can be found at WO95/1401. Regards. MParnham Posted 23 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 23 November , 2005 A shame - but thank you very much for your trouble. If you are wondering why I am interested I have posted a message on the "Western Front" section of the forum about RFA front line deployment. again thanks - Martin
