ckbeans Posted 4 January , 2006 Share Posted 4 January , 2006 PLEASE can anyone shed any more light on the panoptikum. Great to know all above board and there may yet be a Westphalian reader. Keep going Geoff. ckbeans
egbert Posted 5 January , 2006 Share Posted 5 January , 2006 With Stephen Bulls explanation -for me its crystalclear that the panoptikum is located on the Eastern Front as the copy of the postcard says (see earlier picture post in this thread)! gcwilson Posted 6 January , 2006 Share Posted 6 January , 2006 Thanks Egbert - another id. A2 P16 P5 The Jesuit Church of St Casimir, Vilnius, Lithuania. Constructed as a Catholic Church this was converted into the Orthodox Church of St Michael in 1839. In 1915 the German army turned the church into a Lutheran house of worship for their army. In 1917 the church was returned to the Catholics. In 1963 under Soviet rule it was converted into a Museum of Atheism Photo 1 shows the church in its pre-GW orthodox configuration. Photo 2 shows the current façade. Graham W.
